Crazy About You Birthday Card Set

This is a monochromatic set of birthday cards using the Crazy About You stamp set. This is such a versatile set. If you could only buy one set of stamps, this would take care of your needs all year long - Birthday, Baby, Graduation, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Thanks, Hello, Spring, and many more! It has become my favorite stamp set. The background and featured flower is stamped with one of the flowers from the set. There is also a coordinating punch available to cut out this flower. Four of the cards were made from the 2013-2015 In Color collection, which will no longer be available after the end of May, so now is the time to get it if you like the colors (Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, and Crisp Cantaloupe). I added a card made with Daffodil Delight.

Do you like the monochromatic look?  I enjoyed making the backgrounds to go with the cards. I need to do this more often. It makes you feel "artistic" to stamp a pattern.

I was asked in a comment about the sizes of the layers. Here are the sizes: The card base is cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and folded in half, making the finished card size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches. The bottom white layer is cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 inches and the top stamped background layer is cut at 4 x 5-1/4 inches. A helpful hint is to stamp the background layer on a larger piece of cardstock and then trim down to size.

Easter Card

Here is my last Easter project, I think! I created this for Cardz TV Easter Card Challenge. http://cardztv.blogspot.com/ You can see all the cards from the challenge on her website. My card was created with the Create a Critter 2 cartridge, a Paper Studio embossing folder, Stampin' Up designer series paper and cardstock, and a Stampin' Up "happy easter" stamp from a retired set. I also used the bow punch to create the bow. Happy Easter!

Bunny Baskets - Boy & Girl (Revised)

When I originally made and posted the boy and girl bunny baskets, I wasn't really happy with the black whiskers. It really bugged me, so I changed them! I like this version better, do you? You can see the original post below dated February 19th.

Boy and Girl Birthday Cards for Younger Kids

Here are two of my Etsy cards. I made one for a younger girl and one for a younger boy. My grandson who is 15 now would have loved the race car card when he was little. Heck, he still might. He loves watching drag racing! Both were made with Stampin' Up cardstock. The ice cream cone paper I used for the girl card is a discontinued paper. The paper and race car for the boy's card are from K & Company. It is from my stash so don't know if they still make it. Stamped greetings are both from Stampin' Up. https://www.etsy.com/listing/227852686/boys-birthday-card?ref=shop_home_active_1

More Cards for Kids!

I love making colorful cards for kids! Here are two more I made with just scraps I had laying around. I cut the balloons from my Cricut along with the numbers. The embossed numbers card is a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Hope these give you some inspiration for your kid cards. The #9 card was cased from Pinterest. Gotta love that Pinterest!

Mama Chick Easter Basket

Mama Chick is made from Create-a-Critter 2 cartridge (Mom Chic) and is cut at 4 ½ inches. Cut accessories and layers at same size so they will be proportionate to the chick. I added a punched flower to the hat with a rhinestone and added the “Happy Easter” tag below the wing. All supplies for box and chick are from Stampin’ Up!

Box is cut from a 5x5 inch piece of yellow cardstock, scored at 1 ½ inches on all 4 sides. Cut up to score line on 2 opposite sides of square, trim where necessary and adhere together. Handle is made from a 6 x ½ inch piece of matching cardstock and attached to 2 sides of box with small brads. I also added a ½ inch trim piece to the box. This was cut at ½ x 8 ½ inches to allow for a small overlap.

Attach chick to front of box and add colorful Easter grass. Finished size of basket is 2 x 4 ½ inches. Would make great favors for your Easter table or cute little baskets for school or Sunday school. I’m thinking of making them in different colors, like Peeps. I think that would be really cute. Hope you enjoy!

Birthday Card - Male or Female

I have a lot of birthdays coming up so I've started making birthday cards! I think this one could be for a male or female, young or old. The stamp set is Endless Birthday Wishes from Stampin' Up! The cardstock, punches used, candy dots and ribbon are also from Stampin' Up!, but the patterned cardstock is Hopscotch from Colorbok. The color combinations in this card are my favorite so I enjoyed making it for whoever is going to be the recipient. I haven't decided yet. I'll be posting more birthday cards as I get them done. Thanks for looking!

Flower Pot Pocket Card for Mother's Day

I was cleaning out my craft room recently and before discarding my stash of old magazines I decided to go through them. In an old issue of CardMaker Magazine from March 2011 I found this flower pot pocket card I had bookmarked to make but never did. My card isn’t exactly like the one in the magazine. I changed up my flowers and made some different leaves, but the concept is the same.
You start with a 9 x 4 ½ inch piece of cardstock and fold it in half. You end up with a 4 ½ x 4 ½ inch square card. The folded edge becomes the bottom of your flower pot. Cut up both sides at an angle to look like a flower pot. Then cut a 4 ½ x 1 ¾ inch strip to form the rim of the flower pot. Using a scallop punch or other decorative edge punch, punch along the bottom edge of the rim piece. Sponge the edges of the flower pot and rim piece. Close the card by attaching a very thin strip of adhesive on both sides of the flower pot piece, leaving the top open to form the pocket. Attach the rim piece to the top edge of the flower pot card.
For the inside pullout, cut a 2 ½ x 4 ½ inch piece of white card stock and stamp your greeting in about the middle of the piece. Be sure to leave room for your flowers on the top 1 ½ inches of the pull-out piece. Mat this to another piece of colored cardstock, leaving a small border on all sides. To this inside pullout piece, attach cut-out paper flowers, leaves, butterflies, or whatever else you would like. You do have to be mindful that whatever is attached has to be attached very well because this is the piece that is going to be pulled out from the card.
Decorate the flower pot as desired. Add a greeting and ribbon and you are done! I thought this would make a great Mother’s Day Card and can be customized to whatever color combinations you like! It takes a little time, but when I am in my craft room time flies!
Thanks for stopping by to visit. Let me know what you think!

Tissue Box Cover

Last fall Mary from Cardz TV made a cute fall tissue box cover. I made one for myself and then my daughter wanted one. I made more at Christmas time. My mother was still using her Christmas cover so she asked me to make her a spring version. This is it. I used Pacific Point cardstock and the Painted Blooms DSP from Stampin' Up! The boxes are not that difficult to make and are certainly conversation pieces if you have one on your desk at work, etc.

Mary's site with instructions is http://cardztv.blogspot.com/2014/09/how-to-make-cute-fall-tissue-box-cover.html

Here are the dimensions of the pieces to cut:
1. Cut 2 pieces of heavy cardstock 5 1/8 by 9 1/2 inches. Score each at 1/2 inch and 5 inches. Fold score lines and attach both pieces on the 1/2 inch strip to form the box.
2. Cut a 6 5/8 inch square piece of heavy cardstock and score at 1 inch on all four sides to make the lid.
3. Using a 3 1/4 inch oval die, cut an oval in the center of the lid piece.
4. Make your mats for each side of box and lid as desired.
5. Decorate the box with ribbon, buttons, cut-outs, whatever you want. I cut out a bird and leaves on my Cricut and punched out some flowers with the Petite Petals Punch, sponged them, and added rhinestones.

You can see Mary make the box on her video and it will be clearer. They come out super cute I think! Give it a try and let me know how yours turns out!

Kid's Birthday Card - Birthday Bash DSP

This card was made with Birthday Bash DSP from Stampin'Up #137783 and balloons diecuts. Cat was made from various circle and oval punches. I made a matching pocket envelope from the pattern of another envelope I took apart and traced, then cut the top with pinking shears. I am planning to put a gift card in the pocket and enclose the pocket with the card. This was a really fun card to make! Products used:
